Re: Geraldton
Geraldton is a far distance from Perth, about 5 or 6 hours if I remember well.
Nice feel about the place. I'm sure there is someone on here who runs or ran a hostel there.

But she upped and went back home after her experiences with the backpackers of Geraldton, the vandalism and yobbery.

Re: Geraldton
The stress and aggro of living there contributed partially to the breakup of her marriage. Food is frighteningly expensive, it's a long boring trip to Perth and anywhere else. I personally wouldn't live there after reading of her experiences but each to their own. People live there and law of averages state that some of those people love it

Hello,
have PMd you.
I live on the coral coast and Geraldton is my nearest big place. Not been yet, but another family went in July and spoke with them on the phone and they like it. Planning on a trip in the next couple of weeks as its got lots of shops.
Food in my town is not expensive. So cant imagine Geraldton would be much different. As my town is smaller and further from Perth, reckon I would have noticed. Have heard further North e.g Karratha prices are more expensive.
I spent 2 weeks in Perth in a hotel apartment and with kids to feed did a fair bit of food shopping. Prices here are about the same as Perth. I have not noticed any wild differences.
Fruit may be slightly cheaper as my town grows it!
Its no hardship living out here. Yes quieter, but Im central for Monkey Mia dolphin place, coral bay and ningaloo reef. Great if you like outdoors and a quieter life.
Cant comment on Geraldton as havent been yet, but this coast is very nice.
My place is quiet but reckon Geraldton will be a lot busier due to it being more city like.
Oh, and we are getting more development going on. Upmarket villas have been built overlooking the water and more on the way. Seams to be regeneration going on at the mo and next couple of years.
