gekkos
what is it with these mini lizards?
it seems we have been visited by a pregnant gekko because to my daughters delight we now have baby ones all over the place. for the second time this week i have wiped down all my worktops with a dish cloth before realising some poor lizard was stuck to my cloth. i managed to save the first before any damage was done but the last one was a bit squashed. my daughter wont forgive me and im finding the guilt hard to live with. :( |

Apparently they thought furthest north they have reached is Strathpine - not true. Our home is further North than strathpine, and we have them. Anyway it is an introduced species - don't ask me how it got here, probably on the boats.. hiding on wood etc Didn't used to see them much here in Brissie , just the odd one , and the past year - this summer , we've tons of the things. They are slowly but surely spreading It's exactly the same one that is in Sing, Malaysia etc for anyone who knows what I am on about. "chit chat" ( thats the sort of noise of them) :D |
Re: gekkos
Yes, dozens and hundreds! Never heard about any damage to local fauna done by geckos. They are so cute We have to look out when moving sliding doors, there are always a few geckos inside the railing. Yesterday we found a lot of eggs, too... my daughter will have chance to watch hatchings, hopefully.
