Default Gee today was quite a scorcher in Perth!

The hottest time of the day was at 3:48pm (34.2 deg)
http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDW60900.shtml

I would have thought it would be hottest around 1-2pm?

yes.
Went for a meal last year at the place down there. Watched a huge fire on a small island. It looked spectacular at a distance.
It is nice down there.
