Gated Complexes
Has anyone rented on gated complexes, if so what are they like?
We are considering it for the first 6 months just while we find our feet a bit.

Re: Gated Complexes
Depends on where the gated complexes are.
Hope Island, North Gold coast is very nice. Min about $350 a week.

Thanks S&J,
We just want an easy time to start off with. The rental price is nice and cheap which is what we want until OH gets a job. I will be working but we don't want to be dipping into our savings initially.
I suppose we want to use it as a base for 6 months to explore all the other options.
I just wondered if anyone had any good or bad experiences of renting in these type of complexes.

Re: Gated Complexes
I agree Brisben, and some of them are furnished too, which might be a great help in the first instance.
We are thinking it might be good to have something organised before we leave Uk, otherwise I will be worrying too much and then not enjoy our stopeovers in Dubai and Hong Kong (we are treating ourselves big time!).

Re: Gated Complexes
Sunni,
We were looking at gated complexes too. I will be working in Brisbane and oh family live in Ashmore on the Gold Coast, so ideally would love to be between the two, but close to beaches. The gated complexes look really good, just wondered if they were too good to be true, can you give any advice? Looking at Hope Island etc. is this feasible?

We stayed in a gated complex when we arrived. We ended up staying there two years till we bought a house. I think they are a great place to stay when you first arrive, but after a while all the rules and regulations get to you a bit.

Hope Island is a very nice place to live. Some of the 'Complexe's' have swimming pools and Tennis courts. Let me know your need list and your wish list and I'll try and find somthing for you.

As for the rules etc, you only need to worry if you used to live on a council estate in cheetam hill in Manchester or such like.. where anything goes, the rules are fine for most law abiding family types.

Ahh you see I have family in Brisvegas so I am going over before I pick somewhere, although I am sure you can find something nice via recommendations.
