Future for the Gold Coast Not Looking Good
Virtually all Gold Coast suburbs are expected to be job-loss hot spots, with Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise, Worongary, Coomera, Upper Coomera, Coolangatta, Parkwood, Gaven, Pacific Pines, Oxenford, Bonogin, Bilinga and Pacific Pines the worst affected.
Medium to high-risk suburbs include Arundel, Ashmore, Benowa, Biggera Waters, Broadbeach Waters, Bundall, Burleigh Heads, Carrara, Clear Island Waters, Coombabah, Main Beach, Currumbin, Hollywell, Labrador, Mermaid Beach, Merrimac, Mudgeeraba, Palm Beach, Paradise Point, Robina and Southport

Am i a happy chappy, two guesses, bet you guess correct? At least we will all be in the same boat?
I was under the impression it has not hit Australia yet, and when it does it will not really be felt at all. Jobs were looking pretty safe and rents/property costs were holding up due to the increased demand of us migrants?

A quick scan of the trheads in this forum over the last few weeks should've told you otherwise....

A house that was on the market in 2004 for $14 million finally sold on Friday for $7 million but it's so ghastly, I wouldn't have given you $700,000 for it. Rental prices are much the same as usual but the market is definitely slower than it was.
Shit happens, and here is no different.

I work for a small cabinet making company and barely a day goes by without someone calling in asking for a job as companies go under and shed workers.
Ironically there are guys still starting cabinet making courses on student visas at great cost to themselves as a way into Australia. Not quiet sure where they will get placements never mind jobs.
If you are looking for a job then walk through the door rather than phone or write.

No idea where you got that impression from. It's a global problem, the GC is no different to anywhere else. Saying that, there are still a few pages of jobs in the paper, but not nearly as many as there used to be. As far as I'm aware, there is no increased demand from migrants, from what I read, there are less migrants because they are holding back from moving from their home country in such uncertain times.

The Uk is in dire straights, all you hear is doom and doom, at least in Australia, the media keep reporting only good news, the doom just does not get reported!!

If the sun is shining, and the beer is cold, well gret hey! I still hope and believe to some degree that Australia will fair better than the UK.
