Further to the family thread......
Yesterday ended with a real kick in the teeth.
Got a call late last night that Mr HG's Gran has died.
Had to call and tell him - he works away.
Then I had to call his sister (who arived in Perth last week) and tell her this morning.
Now thats a s**t job.
They have just been there 2 weeks!!!!!!!
As its so soon there is no way they can turn round and come straight back for the funeral
At least hubby can see the rest of the family at the weekend.
Talk about bringing it home...................................
And it was my Grandfather i was worried about , he's 10 yrs older than she was...
just when everything seems sorted.....

Wouldn't normaly post about that sort of thing, but after taking about it yesterday, it seemed apt.
Even if its the down side of all this.

Re: Thanks Guys
Hi HBgirl,
sorry to hear the bad news.
I think that this is one of the problems with going so far away. Should one of your parents or close relative get ill, or pass away what do you do?
My wife had this with her aunt this week. By the time she found out, the funeral was the next day and she couldn't mak it in time.
It's a long trip back to the UK from Oz.
Regards
Markeh

How awful for you. I hope your Hubby's Sister doesn't feel too guilty, there really isn't anything they can do. It is just bad timing.
My sympathies.

We had a similar situation just after arriving too: my gran died 4 weeks to the day. It is hard deciding what to do but you must think of what the person would have wanted you to do - i.e. the children had literally just started school, hubby started work and it would have been the wrong time to up and leave - my gran would not have wanted this. It is a strange feeling though I must admit.

I have my fingers crossed that Gran won't pop off before I get over to see her next month. She scares everyone every now and again and then fights back.
It is the one real guilty feeling I have. She was great about me coming over here which made me feel even more guilty.

Don't feel guilty BondiPom - if she was great about you going over then I bet she has loved hearing about it; best present you could have given her is to let her know that you enjoy it. Hope you do get back to see her though.
HBgirl - my condolences to you and your family; as I know only too well it sort of puts everything in to perspective doesn't it.
Lots of love to you and your family,
