Funny thing is - I always thought I was being chatted up too, until the time I actually DId get chatted up, by my Bloke, and he was so nervous that I remember wondering what was wrong - cos although he'd come up and started talking to me, he wasn't as upfront as most Aussie blokes! Must have been stunned into silence by this manic beer-swigging Pom! (poor dear.)

NO, it was the shandy that stunned him mate

OOh you know how to hurt a girl! Full strength Cascade Premium I'll have you know! Stronger than Stella! (whoever she is).
He later discovered that I can drink more than he can before falling over.

Polly perhaps you should rethink and instead of a broomstick make it a walking stick to hold you up. Do you play Quiddich??

Good plan, but once I get to Oz I'll have a Bloke to hold me up - got to get some use out of him!!
Tried Quiddich once, then learned that you shouldn't drink and fly.... ouch! Next time I'll try if sober, might have more success!

[It was only as I was leaving that I realised she was Australian.

It made me realise what I miss most about Australia. The way everyone is so bloody nice, even in public. And the other day it was if she'd got downtrodden by being in London/UK but had seen a kindred spirit.

Makes me realise why I am going to Australia!!! People are so bloody normal.

As a people person, this makes all the difference to me.I don't care what people say about Australians if the average person in the street in the UK can't make an effort what's the country coming to?

I have just got to agree with you on this one, i live in a small rural village 20 mins from Blackpool and believe me they are the most arrogant pigs i have ever come across in my life, they look down on you like =you are a piece of sh*t they dont speak to you and even my next door neighbours havent spoken to me for the past 19 months i have lived in this house. I for one cannot wait to get my ass out of this pig ignorant country, full of asswipes who,s heads are so far up their own arses they see this place with brown coloured specs

My 1st trip to Oz this summer ( Hub lived there for a year and knew what to expect - also, couldent wait to see how I'd handle it ) I found it a complete culture shock that strangers in the street would not only complement me on my children, but then want to know our whole family history. took me the 1st week to get used to it and by week three i was " I'm good thanks, HOW ARE YOU "? !!!!!!!!

The best feeling I have probably ever had ( apart from meeting Hub and having the kids of course ), being around people who are FRIENDLY!!!!!

Love the aussie people - open, friendly, helpful, interested and INTERESTING.

God - I can't wait!!!!

It can get bloody annoying. When you have had a shit day at work the last thing you want is some nut case talking to you on the train.

The English can be bloody depressing and I do not miss the look of misery on commuters faces.

Johanne it seems obvious to me that you have never been to Birkenhead/Liverpool can't get away from people who want to strike up conversation,my Aussie wife thinks I am totally cracked because I speak to complete strangers at bus stops etc. That is just the way we are good to hear the same applies in Aus.As for Wigan well great place shame about the kebab 3 pies on a stick

My Hubby wins the award for the bloke that talks the most. It will probably take us a couple of days to get to the shops as he will stop and talk to all of those friendly Aussies!

Must agree with this one, they talk to you where ever you go and it takes a while to get used to all of the personal interigations!
