Frist week or so.....
Left London Friday 6/8, via Singapore to Perth. All a bit emotional at the airport, wasn't really ready for that ! Singapore Airlines great, but was ready to get off at Perth.
My brother met us at the airport and we stayed with his family the first night in Fremantle, where I went into a Carlton Cold/Jack Daniels fuelled coma. Moved into a holiday rental the following day again in Fremantle. Really nice old cottage with two bedrooms, tv, dvd and all the bells and whistles. Five minute walk to the strip.
First Monday morning we hired a Hyundai Getz from Europecar in Fremantle, then went and bought a couple of prepaid mobiles from Vodafone. Motorolas, cost $150 each with $30 call credit.
Following day we bought an ex-demo (2 month old) Toyota Echo (Yaris) from the local Toyota dealer for $14000. This was after finding ou that a two year with 30000 Ks was going to cost us not much less than that. Toyotas seem to hold their values well here. Thinking about maybe getting a Holden saloon for me but not really sure on that one yet.....
Spent the rest of the week looking at long term rental properties. Settled on one in Fremantle. Brand new, we are the first to live in it, 3 beds, 2 baths, with aircon, five minutes walk to the beach. $280/week. Move in this Friday.
Spent a fortune in Retravision on a new shiney fridge freezer, washing machine, portable tv (til ours turns up), phone etc. Bought a Bbq from K-mart, garden furniture from Bunnings and a new bed from Bedshed with doona and all that. Bargains so far - toaster, kettle and iron from Coles for $12/each. Haven't plugged them it yet though :scared: As long as they last the next month or so for the container we're laughing !!!!
Suppose we really start looking for a job next week ! Seem all to be going a little too well, even the HIFX money turned up in our account over here !!!!
Cheers
IJ
