100kg in one box? A lot of companies will not ship that weight as 2 men would struggle safely to lift it. You would need specialist loading possibly. Can it be separated over 2-3-4 boxes? Sea shipping is by volume so separated out the weight isn't an issue.

can you get this assigned as a commercial shipment?
a normal commercial shipment of 100Kg to Perth would be approx 3GBP per KG plus fees by airfreight, so about 300GBP.
if you can get someone to declare it as commercial, then the local docs fees in the UK would be about 50GBP plus pick up charges, the local fees in Perth would be about $100 plus Aqis and Customs processing costs which could go up to $300 depending on inspection fees and whether you get the forwarder to clear it for you.
the weight/volume equation for Airfreight is 167Kg to the Cbm, so 0.6Cbm is the equivalent of 100Kg.
the other alternative is to approach a small forwarder in the UK and get it sent as "personal effects" "direct airline" to Perth then you will have to do the customs and Aqis running around yourself, you leave yourself open to high freight charges and it will still cost you the $100 at the Airline but you might be able to get some of the inspection fees lowered. allow up to 2 business days for the running around and inspections. If you do end up sending it direct airline, try to get them to use Emirates or Thai Airlines as they use Menzies ground handling who are cheaper than Qantas for the local charges in Perth (and a lot friendlier).

ask for a pallet when calling up a courier company as it can work out cheaper. try cargo-solv i sometimes use them and others when shipping large toy cabins for boys worldwide as they are heavy - a boys version of a dolls house

without starting a new thread and with relevance to this thread. I want to ship my scuba dive x 2 kits out. If I carry with me it would cost about the same price as a flight. I am not sure if I should sell and buy new again but as its top line stuff I would prefer to ship if possible.
