Default Free maps of Melbourne

right i am trying to find out where various city councils are in melbourne as i am trying to arrange visiting certain ones when i go there at the end of january. i know in the UK there are websites like www.multimap.co.uk and www.streetmap.co.uk where you can type in a post code or an address and it shows you where that location is at different scales. does anyone know of something similar that exists in australia.

You can get maps from the RACV (Royal Automobile Club of Victoria). I am a member so I'm not sure if they are free to non-members but have a look at:-

http://www.racv.com.au and

http://www.journeys.racv.com.au

As someone else said a Melways is carried around in most cars in Melbourne (or a Gregory's or a UBD).

OzTennis

I have the RACV Melbourne and Suburbs City Map which is brilliant - pity I can't pass it on to you but it is a good old fashioned paper map.

Try also:

Especially maps 54 and 55 (or 55 and 56 - Williamstown anyway)

I used to love reading maps as a child and still do so if it's sad you've got company!

Sorry! Worth joining and having them posted? Last time I went into an RACV shop (in Bendigo in August) I walked out with about 20 maps of Melbourne and every part of Victoria. Now I come to think about it I let my membership lapse and I used my father's membership tag to get the maps for free.
