Yes - I use this. I ditched Norton rubbish some years ago in favour of it.

Free updates and excellent protection.

Zone alarm pro. you can download a good version for free from their website, or if you want full version download limewire (like napster etc) and get the pro version for free.
I use it and it checks all activity in and out(was recommended by gadget show on channel5)

Avast firewall was also recommended by them, free to downlaod(check google for all i have said) better than windows firewall and has a registry scanner etc to check for probs.

Spybot search and destroy great virus checker used by alot of people(my bro is a comp geek and recom this one and next one)

Ad adware. Both of these are free download and you can give a dnation if you like and have free updates too.

All above have regular updates.

Hows that for you mate. Dance for me now!!!!

Yup, couldnt agree more. FreeAVG does better than Norton / McAfee for real-time protection. Updates can be a few days late but still, for free, there's none like it.

Have a look through there...AVG is good though, just naff interface...

AntiVir is good though, updates and interface - http://www.free-av.com/

Panda is another good one.

I desperately need something, as I am sure my PC has yet another virus (no thanks to Norton, then Mcafee)

After spending over £500 to upgrade it, including new copy of Windows XP

I have now had to resort to using my laptop again as my PC is totally fooked

:(

Right I've downloaded AVG and deleted Norton now my computer is telling me I don't have a firewall.

I've turned on the windows one but should I get something better.

For most people the one provided with XP service pack 2 is sufficient IWS.

So that'll be the one already loaded on my laptop?

Well I'm assuming you're using Windows XP?
Right click on My Computer and choose Properties.
This will indicate if you have Service Pack 2.

The firewall provided in SP2 is decent enough unless you want to get picky.
I stopped using other FWs after reading enough to convince me.
