It does look nice, there have been a few dingo attacks though, maybe only 1 fatality.

A 1996 survey reported at least 10 percent of visitors reported a negative interaction with dingoes on their visit to Fraser Island, including harassment (especially of children), food theft and damage to property, particularly tents.

And what's this about not being able to swim on 1/2 Australias beaches cos of sharks? It's usually box jellyfish that stop swimming for half the year.

You can't compare the two.
Rottnest is a nice day out for the family, hop on the ferry with cameras and a picnic, maybe hire bikes, tootle round see the quokkas, enjoy the beaches and back in time for tea.

Fraser is an expedition, pack up your 4wd with 2/3 days of supplies, get your permits, plan an itinery, drive everywhere, set up camp, then you can enjoy the forests, dunes, lakes, rock formations, fishing, 4wd'ing etc etc..

Both are great places to visit, I'd quite happily do both again but one is not an alternative for t'other.
