You can search to see if any of your ancestors were convicts at the Hyde Park Barracks:

Great pics as ever

I'll check out the gallery and the Picasso tour, that'd be something a bit different. That pub looks fab, lots of history inn there I bet

Given you're not into heights this might be an option for getting a great view of Sydney (minus the skywalk):

I'm looking forward to those galleries. Sydney has great old pubs...I think you'll really like them.

If you don't want to do the bridge climb I've heard people recommend the museum and walking up the southern pylon to the lookout:

The botanical gardens could be amalgamated with a trip to the Andrew Boy Charlton swimming pool. There will be some great bodies on display. Actually I think i remember the restaurant in the gardens being rather nice too.

The aquarium is nice although probably way too busy. A walk along the Spit? Crashing surf and the ocean.

If walking is your thing, do the Bondi to Coogee walk (and I suspect the Sculptures by the Sea may still be on).

It is a terrific walk in good weather and in my opinion, showcases the rocky coastline and beaches

Reading these replies has given me a few more ideas for weekend stuff!

The sculptures by the sea is only on until 20 november. Another one to look into is see whats on at cockatoo island. We spent a day there last weekend wandering round a street art festival. Some really interesting stuff.
