Fountain Gate...(Melbourne SE mall)
We went for the first time in about 3 months. We normally try to avoid the place as it can be very depressing.
The garden shops and furniture shops were practically deserted. As reported, looks like interest rates have begun to bite.
Bad news- my 2 year old daughter caught up on FG and was saying it alot. We hope to God she does not turn into a little Kath and Kimette!

MCM - accessible by public transport (fare evaders)
MCM also has other (non shopping) activitites near by to keep Peeps occupied.
Chadstone is out of order at present (with building/construction work). Perhaps the consequence is people drift to the city instead.

The sales are good too and the retailers are giving big discounts to attract buyers, see that tvs are selling well though with the Olympics round the corner.
I buy on the web if possible and so does my daughter so perhaps we are becoming web shoppers rather than going shopping. I find if I want anything specific that I need I find its difficult to find a person with the knowledge. So the web is better for that as can email and ask questions seek out info on forums etc before buying.
So a lot of shopping is now being done all over the world by people rather than down the road.
