Default Found any good music in OZ?

I have quite a wide range of musical tastes and enjoy live music. Does anyone have any recommendations for the following

1) Good Aussie bands (more towards the rock side of things)
2) Any good websites on live music scene in the Melbourne area
3) Any information on any annual festival type stuff (Melbourne preferably but hey I'm sure I could travel a bit)
4) Good venues for live music

Cheers

Silverchair, powderfinger and the whitlams .....theres a list to start you off

Bit of a way from melb....but try to get to the adelaide fringe festival. Guarantee you will love it

Do a google search for "triple J" radio...can't remember the site, but its pretty good and caters for a wide range of music.

Saw these guys at the LarmerTree festival a few weeks ago and they were the highlight of the weekend for me.

Christ, loads from memory. Problem is I can't remember many names!!

I know there is a nice room at the Casino where they have concerts (think I saw Matchbox20 there), and there are a few good pubs that play live rock. One is called the "Great Britain" funnily enough and from memory is around St Kilda, or perhaps Toorak or around that area.. Basically there are loads. Problem is finding them. Bands will also play at the uni as well...

BTW a really good band a in Melbourne a few years ago was called Aspirin (although it might be spelt to be slightly different). There were a few others I used to go and listen to as well, some of them damn good. Not sure if they are still there or not...

Give "Midnight Oil" a listen too - had a hit in the UK in the mid-80s with "Beds are Burning".

We have been in Brisbane for 8 months and I think it must be one of the best places in the world to see your musical heroes up close!
So far I've seen Brian Adams from the second row (signed my program) Bruce Springsteen from the third row and the Stones near enough to count the wrinkles!!
I would have to have been a millionaire to get so close anywhere else
