Thanks Pete.
We will be heading near to Forest Lake when we go to Oz early next year. My Sister-in-law lives very near there and she has said to me in the past that Forest Lake is really nice. As far as I can gather it is a ready made community with its own lake (obviously), recreational areas and an excellent college (private but they do have scholarships).
I think it is about 30 minutes by car from Brisbane itself and 40 minutes to the coast
Try looking at www.360tours.com.au which, if you scroll down to the near the bottom of the home page, has a virtual tour of Forest Lake. Looks nice.
Also, house prices start at about $270,000 for a 3 bed lowset or about $330,000 for a 4 bed but I don't think that you get too much land with that. Have a look at www.realestate.com.au.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Thanks Jo, It depends on where I get work, either in Newstead or springfield, so we are looking at both sides of the river! but have always liked Forest lake area. I will have a look at that website, thanks again, pete.

Re: Forest lake
Forest Lake (Brisbane)?
If yes me and the other half have set up home in Forest Lake and we have no complaints at the moment with the place (been here just over a year now). Most of the houses are pretty new brick and tile places blocks range from 400m2 up to 1500m2 although larger plots are available if you look. Prices still seem to be rising here at the moment ours (4 beds 2 bathrooms) was on the market for 328k next door (3 beds 2 bathrooms) has just gone on the market for 345k. If you have little ones there is a state and private school here which both seem to have good reps which is good to know. The local shopping mall has all the usual suspects present and there is Mt Ommaney, Jindalee and Indooroopilly (huge) shopping centres all pretty close for other more specialist shops.
If you need any more info feel free to ask.

Re: Forest lake
Not had any trouble with anyone from anywhere?
Sure there are far more upper class areas to go on the rob than FL.
