I currently have an independent skilled application lodged in London (Non IT), and hope to move to Australia sometime in 2002. Although my profession is in the finance field, I am also a part time football (soccer) coach (Coaching 7 to 15 year olds) and have internationally recognised qualifications in this area. I was told that soccer was booming in OZ at the moment. Is this the case ? If so, in which parts of Australia? Any comments would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Danny.

as a result of the Socceroos failing once again to get into the Worls Cup, soccer has
now been banned in Australia to prevent any further heartache. Resources will now be
devoted only to those sports that we can beat the world at, like Australian Rules
football. The authorities are gradually supressing it in the few strongholds that
existed, and coaches are sure to targeted as a corrupting influence.

Truthfully, I don't know what it is like at the grass-roots level. The National
Soccer League is struggling once again, and attracts the number of people that would
embarrass a Confernce team. You can see Soccer Australia's (the governing body) web
page at www.socceraustralia.com.au

soccer as a game is booming but the major league the National Soccer League is one of the worst if not the worst in the world....it is very bankrupt at the moment and really needs a major overhaul....clubs like melb knight and south melbourne are a disease in the league that wont let go of thier ethnic ties.....although one or 2 clubs are booming like perth but anywhere else its dead...
