Food Manufacturers Where are They??

Hi everyone.

I am a newbie to the forum, and have found it such a great resource for our upcoming move down under.

Myself, my hubby and our 4 year old are all set to move and will be moving September at the latest, however, we still havent fully decided where to settle due to my husbands occupation, so I am after some advice if anyone can help.

My husband is currently the technical director for a large food manufacturer based in the UK, and has held senior food technical positions for many years, but we are struggling to identify an area in Australia where he is likely to secure work quickly and at a similar level to what he holds now.

This is a key issue for us as his role is very specialist so we dont want to land ourselves somewhere where he is unlikely to find work, I am an accountant so for me location is not really an issue as accountants can usually pick up work in most areas.

If anyone can give us some info on where would be a good place to start looking where there are food manufacturers, we would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Become a member of the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology, which has an employment section and other info, http://www.aifst.asn.au/templates/ai...spx?pageID=317. Also search www.seek.com.au and similar websites.

I can't help with all states but Adelaide has chicken processing (Inghams), fruit processing in the Riverlands (Nippy), spuds in Mt Gambier (SA Fries). Oh and of course Beef at Murray Bridge (T&R) or Lamb in Bordertown (Swift).

Depends of course on what type of food - might be able to give a few more tips if you can provide more detail?
