flying west bound.....

I've heard a rumour that if you fly west opposed to east your baggage allowance is increased.

Does anyone know if this is true?

We were intending on visiting Orlando on the way out to brisbane anyway - OH was already panicking about general 20kgs allowance... god knows what he'll be like if we can take more.

I think he believes that we can just live out of a suitcase until our container clears customs - may make a tad easier if we just get to take more stuff to start with..

anyway, thanks for any info....

Better for the jet lag but worse for the amount of plane stops/changes and of course the dreaded US customs post 9/11

Yes it used to be 64kg each, now 46kg. The biggest issue with this amount is actually transporting it! We are flying via Miami, Mexico, Los Angeles and Hawaii and will have 5 cases, 2 child seats, a double pram, 4 hand luggage bags and two toddlers!!!!

Total weight not including toddlers will be over 200kg!!!!

Flying out of Toronto via San Francisco in August last year took us 3 hours to clear US customs.

Same for me in NY last year, even though I wasn't even entering the country I was getting straight back on a plane to fly somewhere else :D

Orlando airport is the worst airport in the USA as far as queues and organisation goes for going through customs etc, remember to keep a book handy :D
