Just your basic loyalty card concept. Same deal as the UK - you let the shop track everything you purchase - after five years they give you a free spatula.

Cor, did you get to the spatula that quick? I thought it was usually seven years? Though you can cash in the points at 4 years for a teaspoon instead :lol:

Don't you knock Flybys. After three years of overpaying for stuff I am now the proud owner of a Brother Printer/Scanner/Copier thing, and very good it is too. I still have a few thousands points left. Better than the Tesco's thing that used to send me 'free' vouchers for products I'd have no intention of buying :rofl:

Tescos was much better especially if you were a big spender. Quarter price tickets for the chunnel to take you somewhere nice! :thumbsup:

Actually quarter price tickets for Legoland was cool but I think they reclaimed their money on the food stalls :unsure:

You also get general spend vouchers every quarter with Tesco to spend on whatever you like on top of product vouchers. My daughter got £25 worth a few weeks back!! Works well if you use their petrol stations to fill up too as it bumps up the spend tally.
Way way better deals than anything i have seen in Aus

We generally used to keep them for the quarter price offers. I seem to remember that you had to use the vouchers rather than cash.

Definitely a better deal than any equivalent in Aus.

I just to do well both on Tescos vouchers and on Sainsburys Rewards - personally I found them far better than Fly Buys. I hoped to find that the Fly Buys scheme was worthwhile, but I've been sadly disappointed.

I found it quite worthwhile before I joined my credit card to FF. When I had my credit card linked to them I had several flights which helped us out quite a bit when DS had to go to Brisbane and Adelaide, I went to Sydney and DH went down to Melbourne and more recently I have had gift vouchers. I didnt spend on anything I didnt need to spend on but did tend to go for Shell petrol which was generally competitive where I am, combined with Coles dockets etc. Now I have FF and the credit card isnt linked and I fill the car maybe once every 5 weeks and most of what we eat comes from the garden then my FBs are languishing somewhat.

Fly-buys is just another big brother type loyalty card that tracks your every move about all your shopping habbits, it takes an age to collect points and with only stores from the Coles group taking part it will take a millenium just to obtain a magazine voucher. It is not anywhere close to the Nectar card back home as they have hundreds of different stores and companies taking part, within a year of collecting points on Nectar I was able to purchase a 21" LCD TV and an Apple ipod touch 16gb from Argos all for free, now that's a loyalty card...

You earn 2 standard points for every $5 spent by shopping at Coles, BI-LO, Target, Kmart and some other shops in the Coles Group.

I have never been that enamoured by Flybuys....

I much prefer the Woolworths shopping group option...

or $235 by spending the $31,250 in the above example.

Wonder how much it amounts to in time. Does it add a few seconds to your time at the checkout. Does throwing away all the spam mail they send you take time?

For $100 I'd be prepared to put about 15 minutes into it.

I don't do it because I asume that the time wasted is worth more to me than the money gained. A bit like saving a few cents at the petrol pump. Maybe I'm wrong.
