Flights to the UK from Brisbane!!
17 yr old daughter is flying back to UK alone to celebrate her 18th birthday!! Been looking at flights and averaging about $2,700!! What's the best way to get a cheaper price on the flight, booking wise? Obviously want the most direct flight as well to ensure she is safe!! Any advice is welcome. Thanks

Get creative....
Firstly - and most easily a 17yr old can endure much discomfort... explore AirAsiaX for cheap fares.
If THAT doesnt work for you then consider trying to get out of Australia as cheaply as possible and then pay fares in currencies other than ripoff AU$s:
a) Buy a 1 way ticket to the UK and a 1 way ticket back to Brisbane
-or-
b) A Return to Singapore (in AU$) + a return SIN-LHR (in S$)
c) A Return to HongKong (in AU$) + a return HKG-LHR (in HK$)
b) and c) will usually save you a couple fo hundred $$ and a) *might* save you some cash depending on cost of 1-way tickets out of UK (might be cheaper to buy a return out of the UK and throw the return portion away)
1-way tickets at least give you guaranteed passage without any risk of transit delays - buying 2 different returns means if your 1st flight is delayed you *might* have issues for missing the 2nd!

Singapore Airlines have good fares. I booked one way for my son and husband yesterday for $2,400 for both of them. They were the cheapest by around $1400!

Spend the money and pay for her to go Premium Economy ! JAL do some around that price
Seriously - Find a cheap quote on line for the price you want and go book it through flight centre they will beat the quote
How far away is the flight and what sort of time of the year, there are peaks and troughs of pricing and can be a pain getting decent prices.
As a previous poster stated possibly try different airlines for the journey, getting up to Singapore on Qantarse and then over on Singapore airlines to the UK proved alot cheaper for us to fly than either airline direct but if you want the hassle free direct luggage and transfer option this might not be the way to go.

With AA she'll have to clear customs in KL and re check-in herself & bags. She may also have a long layover landside at the low cost terminal. Not to mention being liable for sorting out any problems with flight connections.

Go to www.bestflights.com.au and get a price then go into flight centre and they will beat the price (by a dollar-hooray) One word of caution with doing this is that you would be better paying by cash as they sting you with credit card charges.
Ended up I flew return from Mel for $2100 (that included my travel insurance)
