flights to oz

Can someone recommend some sites for cheap flights to perth, around 15th jan 09,been trying a few and prices seem to be a little high, compared to what i have heard of others going around same time.
Is it best to look on them flight search sites or the airlines own websites.

Try for a couple of days later - prices generally drop around Jan 20th (not by much, but by a little)

http://www.expedia.co.uk is one I've used a lot :)

www.qantas.com

it's BYOC (bring your own chute). can you believe these a*sholes? it's like the 5th major safety issue they had in couple of months. i'd expect them to start discounting 50% if they want any business at all.

Anything but helpful when we phoned them 7 months ago. Didn't even bother to phone us back.

I'd still rather use them than a lot of other dubious airlines.

I am having to fly from elsewhere to get to london so will be extra, but still getting a good price with them, how can there prices be so low compared to others i have been quoted and also who are you flying with at that price?I major airline or something not many have heard of.
I dont think some of the major airlines would be the ones at this price, there must be a catch somewhere, more fees or charges or many stops on the way.

Asiana - according to Skytrax they are a 5 star airline. Ticket is quite flexible too. Apparently it is due to their taxes being a lot lower. Plus travel agents will take a commission on the price you pay for a flight - i guess these just take less...?

Try Net flights, we got Manchester to Adelaide via Singapore for 2 nights in November for £1800.

2 adults, 1 child and 1 infant

Kate was fantastic.

There are many safety issues with all airlines, Qantas are getting media focus at the moment because of them wanting to take jobs overseas. Every business runs on profit margins for the shareholders. I doubt very much safety is being overlooked by any airline, In the near future it will be some other airline getting bad publicity, it happens all the time. I'm sure they will not loose much custom because of these issues at the moment.
Iv'e flown with dozens of airline companies all over the world and if we are all to believe in what we hear we would never leave the ground.

i am flying with emirates (hopefully can upgrade with my airmiles;)) we depart from gatwick on the 21st november, spend 2 months there (parents live there) and then arrive in sydney on the 21st january.
Total cost was £790 for me and £650 for my 3 year old daughter. (dp flys out ahead of us on 2nd october)

Thought they was really good deal. I booked through STA travel (it isnt just for backpackers..lol)
