Smile Flights - need help (Glasgow - Brisbane)

Hi, found flights from Glasgow to Brisbane in October with BA and Qantas for £2896.90 with short stop overs, ideal, except BA have a bad rep on here, so looked at Singapore airlines as everyone says how good they are and cheap. From London heathrow to brisbane is £2793.20 with perfect stopover times the only problem is getting to London from Glasgow or edinburgh airports (with Singapore airline this price shoots up to £5826.00). Therefore looking to book Glasgow to London seperately, has anyone else done this and also how long do you need before check-in at London as connecting flights it's all one but if booking seperately do we still need to check in early. In total dilema about this as don't want to be hanging around for too long with 2 small kids and an incredibly grumpy other half ., but also don't want to have a dreadful flight with BA (a short flight wouldnt bother me but over 24 hours is a different matter!). Any info would be great, and also where to find cheap internal flights here (Edi-london). Sorry to seem like such a travel virgin but I am

Thanks Wendy, cant seem to get flight to London on the 9th anywhere that will arrive early enought before the 1200hrs flight from LHR to Singapore.
Looks like it's going to be BA after all. Beggars can't be choosers!

Try http://www.skyscanner.net/
It searches for all budget airline flights and prices. Looks like on the 9th October you can go with BMI from Edin to Heathrow, arriving at 8.05, or there is one after that too which would also be do-able.
Hope that helps!
Actually looks like you can go from Glasgow too with BMI

what about the day before ansd have a stop over in london and see the sights

try www.skyscanner.net for scot to eng flights, or look at bmi baby, easyjet, ryanair, type in google for cheap flights. Scotair do cheapo flights too.

I can get 1 adult flight from manchester to brisbane for 700 quid, why is it costing you so much for 2 adults and 2 children.

Try www.airlinenetwork.co.uk or it may be a .com. we got 2 flights, great times for "700 each peakk season.

www.austravel.co.uk is a specialist australia flight company, they do packages etc too, but the one way flights are cvheap all year round

theres a few.

hows about some karma

Hi, yes that was the original idea to go with them, but didnt like the idea of an 8 hour stop over in dubai, I think it was from midnight till eight in the morning. Too long for the kids, rather get there as quick as possible as we are only going for a fortnight, when we emmigrate we can take our time. I'll keep looking in the mean time as have to wait to get passports back with visa in them. thanks again for the links.

Hi Claire,

what about flying Emirates to Australia. We flew with them and they were truly excellent. We went to Perth, not sure where else they go, but you could maybe pick up an internal flight to Brisbane from wherever it does land?

Emirates do indeed fly to Brisbane, not sure if they go from Glasgow though. We are flying from Manchester via Dubai and Singaore.

Got a great deal on ebookers.com. We found that BA and Quantas were on the pricey side.

I tell you what mate ( oops! Claire! )we did the 8 hour stopover in Dubai last year with 2 kids 5 and 6 at the time, We had the same thought as you from Midnight to 8 in the Morning.

Trust me you will need the few hours break between flights and also the Airport Hotel is brilliant, as the staff were also. We will most deffinately do the same again Hopefully!

I've just searched a randon website and, flying out on the 9th October and back on the 23rd, you can go with Cathay Pacific for £559 per adult. Not much waiting around either. That price includes a BA flight from Glasgow to Heathrow.
Or direct from Glasgow to Brisbane with Emirates for £563.
Check it out here:
http://flights.justtheflight.com/tc....=fares&tid=com

SORRY - THAT WAS ONE-WAY COST SO IGNORE ME

Doesnt seem ideal does it ( the 8 hours stop over, over night) but as you mentioned the hotel, it is a possibility, but I would be scared I slept in and missed the flight :scared:
