Flight connections?
Hello travelling from the UK. (going to the UK a couple of days before to see family)
Will fly to London Heathrow from Newcastle and connecting with Singapore Airlines.
The flights are booked as a group.
I can have a 1 half hour time between landing in London and getting the Perth flight.
Or the earlier one which gives me 3 hours before the Perth flight.
Which one should I go for? Ive got four kids in tow so the 1half hour sounds better. However would it be risky e.g could the london bound plane be late?
They are all booked as a group so meant to connect with the Perth bound flight.
Any input appreciated
GEMS.

Re: Flight connections?
I would say 3 hours as heathrow is huge, it can take 45 mins to get between terminals, and even transfers in the same one.
There is plenty to do at heathrow, so you should be fine. Not like being stuck at a US airport with one coffee stop.

Get the 3 hour one, when we flew to heathrow it took us 30 mins to get out of terminal, 10 mins to catch bus to next terminal and then once in international departures 35 mins to walk to our gate and we havnt any kids. There is lots to do at heathrow its huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge

Get the 3 hour one, we flew back to Heathrow today from Sydney with Quantas it was due in at 6.40am, it was late leaving Singapore and arrived over london at 8.15am then was put into the holding stack, finaly landed at 9.00am.
Lots of people on it missed their connections so are now stuck at heathrow waiting for the next available flight.

Re: Flight connections?
Agencies - and even the airlines - regularly book people with approved but completely unrealistic connecting times. Even if you scramble onto the flight in a substantial percentage of cases (pun intended) your bags won't travel with you.

Re: Flight connections?
No question about it, you need the 3 hour connection. Phone and make 100% sure you can get your luggage checked straight through to Perth (usually taken for granted if you're flying with the same airline all the way but presumably there is some kind of code-share?). If you have to collect it at Heathrow then change terminals and check in again even 3 hours would be pushing it. Terminal 3 at Heathrow (where Singapore fly from) is a DUMP - when we flew to Sydney in November we spent 2 hours in the queue to get through security after checking in - not fun with 3 kids, let alone 4!
