We used Emirates, not one of the best i know but it was cheaper and they offered the usual 20kg per person, plus an extrat 10kgs per person because we were emigrating, we had to request the extra luggage when booking and they needed copies of visas, thoguh 10kg per person doesnt seem a lot, there were 4 of us so it made a huge difference.

you only get the extra baggage allowance if you've got PR status and can prove it by showing your visa.

No such luck for 457 holders (I'm one, we flew Emerates too, I tried and failed to get the extra allowance.) 20Kg only each.

457 holders are considered temporary residents (and might return to the UK at some point) - the extra baggage allowance is for people who shouldn't be returning.

We air freighted some stuff over instead.

We came via the States with Air New Zealand and got 46kg each, masses of luggage

The never questioned our visa status....

Flying via the US provides more baggage allowance (regardless of reason for travel) than flying east.

ETA: Like Lou, we flew with Air NZ. They allow two pieces of checked-in luggage per person, weighing up to 23 kg each.

What everyone else said, if it's do-able for you.

Failing that, e-mail singapore airlines and ask if they'll let you have 30kg's, more than likely they will
