It was bad a couple of days ago down here. Walking 10 minutes to the local park I counted a fly on my face every 3-4 seconds. Worse thing is them trying to get in your mouth. Have to walk with the mouth shut, difficult when the nose is stuffed up with hayfever.

I have only eaten one so far this season so am feeling lucky so far.

Would that not work?

There's no flies on me

Have lived in 2 areas of Cairns so far and they have been no worse than they were in the UK.

Same here - I'm in the eastern suburbs of Sydney and we're hardly ever bothered by flies (and NEVER get mosquitos either).

Flies are obviously lazy buggers..either they can't be bothered to fly all the way up north or they can't stand the heat...either way...theres hardly any of the buggers up here!!!

They're sticky flies. They are after your warm, wet bodily secretions - your earwax, the mucus in your nose and throat, and the moistness in your eyes.

God knows what it must be like in a nudist colony.... :scared:

I know, I know, get rid of the dog........Actually the flies drive him bonkers as well. So its not just the homo sapiens who need to adjust to the new country!!!

I was thinking the exact same thing, when doing the same task today. Maybe I will get one of those mask things that Gina UK was talking about.

As far as I'm concerned the flies, and dont underestimate their nuisance
value until you've experienced it, are the single most annoying thing about Aussie.
