We really like living here as it is so convenient for the CBD without being too near. We have 3 bus routes and the train station literally less than 10 minutes walk away. The only downside - if your hubby works early mornings at the weekend, could be an issue - I start at 7am and cannot get to work on time on Sundays. The Citycat is also only about 30 mins walk away.

Other than that it is a nice place to live. Plenty of shops/restaurants/coffee shops nearby and all within walking distance.

Hope this helps a bit.

Kat xx
Thanks Kat - that's really helpful! We have been trawling around all week and have wiped some places off our list but we really liked Morningside - and it seems one of the more reasonably-priced suburbs too! We're really keen to keep looking there - thanks again!

Your welcome. We rent through Rout Brothers Estate Agent who are based at Morningside Plaza. They are not your typical "big" estate agent and seem to specialise around the Morningside/Cannon Hill/Cooparoo area. They are always very pleasant with us and we have had no issues. Check out their website www.routbrothers.com.au (if you've not already come across them).

I should have ready your earlier post a bit more carefully.

It sounds great that you have so many options. I needed to be close to work when we moved out, so our locations were more limited.

We live out in the Western Suburbs, so I can only really coment on them.

To be close to a trainline you could look at Indooroopilly, Chelmer, Graceville, Sherwood. They're all about 10km from the CBD.

If you head out towards Chapel Hill, Kenmore, Brookfield etc, you'll need to rely on buses as well, if your only running one car. We're in Pullenvale and couldn't survive if we only had one car.

We find the west has some very good schools, shopping centres and parks. Access to the Centenary Highway is good and for routes heading down to the Gold Coast. Although the Moggill Road does get busy during Rush Hour, but I guess that could be said ofquite a few areas in Brissie.

Good luck with you search.

We have been trawling all around this week - having a day off tomorrow (thank god) Hubby meeting a mate in the CBD for a beer and I'm wandering around Southbank with our son. (Which one got the short straw??? Hmmm)

We are lucky in that we have plenty of options for areas - limited only by the train-line and the fact that OH wants to stay within 10k of the CBD (done too many long commutes in the UK to want to continue that over here). But I do realise that this means we will have to pay higher prices. Finding it really hard to make a decision on an area just by driving around - so the advice I get here is worth its weight in gold
