Re: First really bad few days
Not that I've been through it, but maybe it would be a good idea to have something planned for after your company leaves. We are planning on leaving for Perth in June and have my parents and sister coming in February, after reading all these post's I'm getting a little nervous about that. Maybe if one has a weekend away with the family, a day trip with friends or something planned a day or two after the people leave, it'll give you something to look forward to and help curb some of the emptyness, just a thought.

Re: First really bad few days
I must be missing the 'family' gene :o We;ve had my Mum and Dad over to visit, 4 months after we arrived and Mrs JTLs Mum Dad and brother over about 8 months after we arrived.
Basically it was good to see them, and good to see them leave again, :D especially my M&D who were here for 2 months, I was happy when they left. I know they will be back (well in a month and a half they'll be back to be precise), so seeing them off at the airport is never a drama. It probably helps that I've been travelling since I was 22, so I'm used to only seeing my folks once or twice a year, and I don't suffer homesickness cos I haven't lived anywhere long enough to consider calling it home. :( |

Mum's family all live in Sydney, so thats not a problem but I'm not close to them! I only spotted one of my cousins in Darling Harbour one time out shopping because he's the spitting image of my Grandad (in his younger days)!

They baked. They went to bowls so they made their own friends, and they took the kids out to give us a break. It was so nice, and they never complain. Denise |

I can't have to spread :o Saving all that money I'll be able to take the boys out on little day trips once in a while! Just wish my dad would come round to the idea of getting on a plane! I've suggested nicotine patches, gum and the smokers room at Hong Kong airport! |
