FIRB Approval on a 136 visa ?
Does anyone know if you need FIRB Approval to purchase a block of land on a 136 Visa ?
We will call them tommorow morning but would like to know from fellow expats (easier to sleep tonight)
Thanks

No you don't. We also came on a 136, and as permanent residents you don't need approval.
That only applies for people who come on temporary visas, like the 475.

We're on a 136 and we've bought a house. All we had to do was provide our mortgage broker with a copy of our visa to pass to our lender with the rest of the paperwork. No FIRB needed, although some real estate agents mistakingly thought we did need approval. Assuming there are no weird differences between buying just a block and buying a house - I guess stranger things have happened - you should be fine.

Hi CazYaz
We have a 136 PR visa and bought a house no problems. No FIRB. Loads of paperwork involved as we bought it while still here in the UK. Property was ours in 45 days settlement. Very quick.

Confirmed - no FIRB approval required as long as the block is zoned residential for 136 visas.
Simple phone call to FIRB confirmed it this morning - knew fellow expats would help us sleep better last night though, the banks here know nothing!

thanks all.
