Default fingers and toes crossed for Melbourne

Well all we have to do now is keep everything crossed as we seem to be on the final leg of the application.
Those very nice peeps at Gomatilda have just informed us that with a bit of luck the next time we hear from DIMIA (thats gonna cost Alan a tenner), will be asking for meds and police checks. So all of you that know us plz plz plz keep em crossed for us?
Now then to the crux of the matter will all the Melbournites please give me a candid opinion of the area they live in? Likes and dislikes good, bad and ugly.
Social live, weather (does it change from area to area?) are their many outdoorsey types, walkers, ramblers, bird watchers, naked sunbathers (bakers)? now I'm giving too much away!!!!
Just please let us know whats happening in ure neck of the woods?
Good luck to all that are trying
Regards Chris and Andrea

Default Re: fingers and toes crossed for Melbourne

We live in North Croydon.

It's just off Maroondah Hwy, so it's a good straight run into the city (approx 45 minutes). It's close to the Dandenong Ranges, Wineries and about 2 hours from the snow (if you're into skiing).
Takes about 1 1/2 hours to the beach (well the one we like is Rosebud) but can get to a beach in an hour.
Most houses in the area are well established and are normally on 1/4 acre (unless they've been sub divided).
Good schools locally, good sports facilities locally (both indoor and outdoor). Very little crime in the area.
Good public transport locally and also train line to the city (50 mins from Croydon Station).
Plenty of Large Shopping Centres within 10 minute drive, also local shops with supermarket just round the corner.
Plenty of restaurants within 5 mins drive, also pubs and pokies (if you're interested).

Hope this helps.

Regards
