Smile Finding a job, compared to the UK

Howdy

well i have the visa, and now this is where the real work starts!! i need to find a job (i work in the IT industry) and i was wondering if i should wait until i get there, or start looking now

but more importantly, can anyone compare how easy it was to find work in Australia as opposed to the UK ?

sorry if this is an obvious question, just really looking more for tips through peeoples person experiences

There have been exceptions but most people don't have much success job-hunting until they're on Australian soil. I think the exception will be if you do a very particular job - if your skills are more generic you'll proabably have to wait until you're down under.

Very easy here in Perth. Frighteningly so. I've had 5 interviews (well they are not really interviews, just 'when can you start') & got offered them all. I'm in engineering.

It's all good.

My fiance worked in Australia (Perth) on a working visa back in 98. We are heading over to Perth in Dec (Spouse visa permitting).

He had success in working there before! He joined an Agency (well a few actually). In Perth, his best agency was GEL group. My fiance is in I.T as well. He worked contracts at Home Building Society & Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital - which he loved!!

Where in Australia will you be looking for work?

Hello,

My husband works in the Poultry industry; searched the internet for Poutry Companies, Australia on the internet and found a list of companies. He e-mailed the 2 largest with his CV and a covering letter. He had a reply within 36 hours and then a telephone interview with his chosen company. He is just waiting for his 457 to come through but should be in Oz by the beginning of March.

Good Luck searching!

Louise
