Default finding 457 IT sponsors

Can anyone suggest a way of finding 457 sponsorship for IT, im a .net developer and we would like to move out sooner than waiting for the PR as we are applying on a 138 which takes 12 - 15 months, i have the ACS approval.

Or is it easier to com over on my wifes Hairdressing 457 (she has one offered) and try and find work with an employer who would sponsor me? the reason we are not keen on comming on Leas hairdressing is we just managed to get pregnant but lost it and after 10 years of trying are keen to try again so if we came with Lea as the 457 holder we would need it in my name ASAP in case she became pregnant again.

Any suggestions welcome.

Robert

what about applying for STNI ? They get priority processing. Mine took no more that 3 months may have been even less (not including time to get STNI sponsorship from Vic, gather police clearances, ACS approcal and meds)

Are you sure it takes that long? Ask on the immigration forum.

You'd be in a mess if you came out on a 457 and then your 138 is refused. If you find an employer really keen to hire you why not go for employer sponsored migration if you meet these requirements?

I came out on a 457 to PR and it was with a single company. Doing as you suggest through your wife who may stop working and you having to take over the 457 by finding another company prepared to sponsor you (within a month if I am correct) sounds a hairy place to put yourself.

A 457 visa is a temporary visa and you need to be careful if you have expectations of a PR visa coming out of it.

JAJ has written on this site many times on this advising people to seek a PR visa from the outset. Personally I would follow that advice if you can apply for a PR visa as going the 457 to PR route can be very stressful as it is not a certain process after having relocated to OZ there is always the possability of having to go home.

While you may be able to use a 457, if you are already down the PR route, I'd stick to that even if it is a wait. It is worth it in the end.

Courier is a must. Don't even think about any form of regular post, including so-called "international signed for".
