Default Finally getting my own little piece of Aus

Twoyears in Australia, third job, third location and finally the big day has arrived!

I am now sitting at home, all my beongings in boxes (again) just waiting for the phone call from our solicitor to tell me I now own a little piece of Australia (ok strictly speaking, the bank will own it).

No more bloody three monthly inspections by letting agents who get toey about cobwebs outside the house (what do they expect in a country famous for its spiders?)

No more having to put up with hoards of potential buyers traipse through the house because the landlord wants to test the housing market.

No more with having to put up with decor that looks like it was done by a drunken version of Jackson Pollock.

No more botched up repair jobs (the last one was a peach, the letting agent needed to paint a new front door, so he dug around in the garage and found an ancient pot of paint to use. It only took 5 days to dry!)

Now that reminds me, I need to buy something to fill in all the holes in the lawn that our maltese terrier has dug, and hope all the brown spots on the remaining lawn caused by dog piddle will go

Its a 4 bed house (with inground pool) in an established suburb, and so is on a decent sized block (780sq m).

We decided to look at older property (20 yrs old), since most of the new build stuff here on the gold coast is built on a block almost smaller than the house itself!

England you expect houses to be close together, but in a country where the population density is something like 1700 sq km per person, do houses have to be THAT close together?

Our thoughts exactly! We did the same, 30 yr old house, 1000 sq plot and neighbours not able to hear the chat in our back yard.
Only down side is that the mozzers love the pool around dusk, shame, but we've learnt to live with it

Congrats on the news Trev, I bet you will be giving the pool a work out tommorrow. So wheres my invitation then? LOL

Agree with the new house thing, it absolutely sh*ts me to tears seeing houses that are so close together that you can spit in your neighbours window. We are having serious reservations about buying any house on even 800sqm cos we think its way too small .

Thank god for acreage

No worries Mrs D! anytime

All the pics of the litle maltese earlier in this thread all look very nice. What you cannot see clearly in my atavar is what my maltese is doing (he was between teddies legs humping away, with a stupid grin on his face).

Its not just teddy bears either, he also likes rag dolls!

Good going Trev.

We're renting and it's not too tough but I object to the inspections and not being able to put a bloody picture up.

No doubt they'll try and screw us for some of the bond.

New houses, jeez I've had enough. We could have put in an offer on a established 4 bed b/g pool massive shed and garage for $230 but the missus didn't get "that feeling". Too hell with feelings we're talking dollars and cents here. A block that sized would have cost near on the same as this one let alone the house.

All the new estates are built so you're neighbours can reach your fridge for a beer!
