This feels really odd!
I have started today making the Christmas chutneys, pickled onions, and marinating the dried fruit for the Christmas cake and pudding, however, it feels really odd doing this when the weather is warming up and not getting colder!
What do others feel odd about having the seasons around the other way?

Funny enough I was only thinking this morning that I need to send cards to UK
This is our second Xmas here and as you say, it feels very different.
The downside is Xmas isn't as exciting as often it's the build up tha does it and the hot weather somehow makes it feel more like the summer holiday season.
The upside is we don't spend as much on Xmas junk and food we only end up throwing away anyway .....and there's no anti-climax becuase in UK the build up was always much more exciting than the actual day itself anyway
We've decided as it's nothing like UK, we shall approach things differently. This way we wont find ourselves comparing apples with pears and will have a great day .....regardless.
Ummmmm...now where's me Baileys

Now I'm in Oz and it's hot, does this mean I won't get any more bloody socks for Christmas.

As I grew up with the "Summer Christmas" the one thing I like better about it is that as a kid....you get Christmas in the BIG HOLIDAYS!! Not just a few days off like they get in the UK. You get the whole of the summer holidays to enjoy the pressies you get...also its when you get to go away!!
I did enjoy experiencing the UK Winter Christmas...but I wouldnt perfer it over what I grew up with...
So I guess really, its all about your own traditions etc...and you can still do the same here but just vary it or start to create your very own new traditions for Christmas...
Its all good if you are getting to spend quality time with the ones you love...

To be fair the UK kids get 2/3 weeks off by which time the parents have broken nearly all the toys.........throwing them at at the kids to shutup
Seriously, the point you made re warm weather makes sense cos I found that if you got a bike or rollerskates for Xmas you nearly broke your neck playing outside on the ice or snow or in the road if it was foggy as the car's couldn't see you.
I remember getting a brand new fold up bike once [it was my birthday in Dec too ] anywys I was reet proud of this bright yella fold-up bike. As I rode along the path it skid on some ice and the bike unfolded itself my bum going in one direction and me arms in another:scared:
I was a right mess by time I got home
Bring on the sunshine I say

I cant tell you just how excited about this christmas I am....
Although I was here last christmas, it was my sisters turn to go to her inlaws so we didnt get to spend much of the day with her or her kids.
This year is christmas at my new house and its going to be HUGE if I have anything to say about it!!
I am already starting to plan it and I just so cant wait!!

I LOVE christmas but the other half is not so keen - I say it is because he is a tight arse!
Hope you have a good one Hels with your family.
We have friends arriving on the 23rd but at the moment there are only 5 of us but might be able to round up some more guests by that time!

Whether from UK or Aus....everyone wants to have family around so it'll be mixed feelings for a lot of people on here. The excitment of Xmas and it being different mixed with emotions of missing UK rellies and friends.
So tel me Hels....what do you Aussie folks do for food, decorations and entertainment on Xmas day?
Can you give us an insight into "Xmas at Hels place"
