Feather Duvets & Pillows

Hi

Does anyone know if you can ship down duvets & pillows.

They are the hypo ones that have been washed 10 times etc, expensive so would like to take it possible.

Shipping company arriving on Wednesday to start packing

many thanks

Regards

As far as I know, they are a big no, no, I am afraid.

It might be possible to have them irradiated, but that's about $60 per item.

Your shippers should know what is allowed and what is not.

I would love to be proven wrong.

The estimators who came out last week for us never said anything about them. Bugger as we have them on all beds and they cost us quite a bit of money.

Ooh, that looks great then.

I was sad to be getting rid of some wicker baskets, so I will chance packing them and declare them.

Problem with me is that I hate to see anything wasted, so I would rather see my things go to a new home and be used rather than just destroyed at the border! Maybe I will take the chance!

I agree, just make sure its not "banned", we have a "Harrod" massive wicker hamper which I store all the kids toys in, so I'm declaring it and get it treated for $60 if I have too.

Glad about all the duvets etc! It would cost a fortune to replace everything, my lovely Mum bought we a set of new saucepans, frying pan etc and those alone cost nearly £400!!! Bless her saved me a great deal, mine old ones were wedding presents 10+ years old!

We bought feather duvets, they were just listed as bed linen on the inventory.

Us too. We also brought tons of wood furniture and didn't pay a single cent in AQIS fees.

As far as I know you can still bring them, but with the swine flu outbreak you'll need to clean each feather individually with a solvent based cleaner . . . something likes Jays fluid.

I shipped my feather duvet. Just have to declare it to customs on the form. No problems and that was this year.
