Famous bands and comedians on tour in Perth?
I was watching the Melbourne Comedy Festival on TV the other night and it got me thinking: Which bands / comedians have played Perth in the last couple of years?
Is it a major event if someone like Billy Connolly (on his video) comes to town?
Do bands that tour make the trip over to the west coast (a)rarely, (b)sometimes or (c)often?

And the bigger Perth gets, the more bands will come.
Went to REM on Friday... (last time they were here was 95)
Went to Boyz II Men when I was 12
My dad's been to the Rolling Stones, twice I think.
Green Day was here a few weeks ago.
Jack Johnson, The Beautiful Girl, The Violent Femmes I saw at Blues and Roots festival, among others (famous in some circles)
This is the list I posted on another thread, that were here/were coming in these couple of months:
We've had Rod Stewart, Tom Jones, Bryan Adams here lately.
Alice Cooper soon
Jimmy Barnes...
Kylie Minogue...
Avril Lavigne...
Mark Knopfler
Missy Higgins
Norah Jones
Neil Diamond
Gomez
Oh,Eskimo Joe was the Perth band I couldn't think of before!
Back to now: Eskimo Joe is really good, so is Little Birdy, a Perth band that are making it big. To quote Michael Stipe "you(Perth) have a world class act"
The godfather of soul, James Brown played kings park a few months ago and more recently Brian Wilson presenting Smile. (posted by Renth in Ausrock thread on March 10)
Ok, what's coming up....
Hanson! :scared: (1 June)
Delta Goodrem 8 July
Neil Sedaka (who?) 23 april
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Peter Frampton (who?) 11 May
Tori Amos
Kylie 12/13/14 June
Diesel
Thirsty Merc
Mark Seymour and James Reyne
Rythym of the Dance 3 May
Russel Watson (english?) 14 May
Katie Melua
Tap Dogs
Alice Cooper 4 July
Ben Lee (13 May)
Mary Black (irish) 26 May
Grr, it's annoying the gig guides etc don't go much further than May!
And I can't find any lists of bands that have visited Perth in the past( and yes, you cynics, there have been pleny, ok depends what you define as plenty, but I think plenty, way to expensive if you want to see everything anyway, and bands don't have to be worldwide famous(and expensive) and non-australian to be good )

I don't think Lulu is going to tempt to Perth but it is good to see that Perth isn't ignored.
With visa news expected in the next couple of weeks and a second viewing on the house tonight it is getting to the stage where we need to say for certain where we are heading. Perth it is!

I thought I'd read somewhere (could have been dreaming) that U2 were including Perth on their world tour .

Hardly any decent bands bother going to Perth... it`s just not worth their time/money. It`s great when they do go of course.... when I was last living in Perth we had:
Pink Floyd
U2
Crowded House
Lenny Kravitz
Violent Femmes (you prob don`t know who they are... but are a cult band in Aus).
Sam Brown (opener for John Farnham. I went to see her, not John).
erm, and that was about it A huge difference from the UK... but then again, we can`t afford to see many of the great bands etc here anyway.

I'm sure the Melbourne Comedy Festival is touring WA in May. They're in Bunbury 28 May so they should be in Perth round that time. Failing that there are plenty of jokers on here if you are stuck.
