Family Tax Benefit
I am by no way looking to rely on benefits but was interested to know what we would be in-tilted too in Oz. Currently in the Uk we get about £145 a month, think this is just the standard across the board
I just did this quick quote based on myself earning about 70k and my wife 24.5k as she would hope to work 20hrs a week during school term time and within school hrs, and out of term time just 10 hrs a week. Does this seem about right to any families, this is on 2 kids at primary school.
Fortnightly estimate
Family Tax Benefit Part A
$129.78
Family Tax Benefit Part B
$0.00
Clean Energy Supplement Part A
$3.08
Clean Energy Supplement Part B
$0.98
Rent Assistance
$12.04
Estimated Family Assistance payment
$145.88

Please don't ever feel that you need to put in a disclaimer when asking for this sort of info (although given a few thrashings I've seen, I'd probably do the same!) I think it's great that families get some assistance with the cost of bringing up their kids, they're expensive little blighters!

Thanks for the reply, they sure are expensive little blighters.
It's just good to know what you are and aren't able to claim. As I said I never want to have to depend on these, and I simply wouldn't make the move it I had to reply on these too survive.
Thanks again

Re: Family Tax Benefit
Thanks for reply...what is the $700 and $300 in addition to FTB section A
Is that $205 just set across the board for all state school kids?

Re: Family Tax Benefit
Family Tax Benefit Part A supplement
You can also get Family Tax Benefit Part A supplement of up to $726.35 for each child, when your payments have been balanced after the end of the financial year. This will happen after you and your partner (if you have one) have lodged your tax returns and your income details are confirmed by the Australian Taxation Office or advise you are not required to lodge. The amount of supplement you receive will depend on your family income or circumstances.
If your child is turning four years old and you receive an income support payment from Centrelink or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, your supplement may be withheld if your child does not get a health check to ensure they are healthy, fit and ready to learn when they start school.
The supplement may also be withheld if a child is not fully immunised at age one, two and five. To meet the immunisation requirements, children will need to be 'fully immunised', be on a recognised immunisation catch up schedule, or have an approved exemption.
Family Tax Benefit Part B supplement
You can get a Family Tax Benefit Part B supplement of up to $354.05 per family after the end of the financial year, when your payments have been balanced. This will happen if, within the required timeframe, you and your partner (if applicable) lodge your tax return and the Australian Taxation Office confirms income details, or after you and your partner tell us you do not need to lodge. The amount of supplement paid may vary depending on your family’s income and circumstances.
if you are eligible to receive FTB part A then this applies to you
Unlike the previous Education Tax Refund, you do not need to claim the Schoolkids Bonus or keep receipts for education expenses.
Eligible families will receive Schoolkids Bonus in:
two instalments of $205 for each child in primary school - a total of $410 each year
two instalments of $410 for each child in secondary school - a total of $820 each year
If you share the care of your child with another person, you will receive a percentage of this payment. This will be based on the percentage of Family Tax Benefit you receive for the child.
All these were copied from centrelink website.

Re: Family Tax Benefit
Schoolkids bonus is being scrapped. I'm not sure if it will be phased out or whether the July payment was the last.

Re: Family Tax Benefit
Just had a quick search on google and its looks like the FTB will be increased instead of the schoolkids bouns, I have no idea how much it will be increased by though.

Whether there will be further increases to compensate for the ending of the Schoolkids Bonus, I'm not sure and not holding my breath...

Isn't it means tested though? Most people I know either English on different Visa's or Australians who don't get anything.

Re: Family Tax Benefit
Just looking to start this post up again.
Does anyone know if Family Tax Benefit is paid on top of childcare rebate and benefit, from what I've read it does. I hoping to make the leap now when kids are in nursery but just wondering as to what the figures will be.
What I am really after is for families and families particular in the same kind of set up to get in touch either Pm or reply to this post
So situation would be Me 70k fulltime, wife 15k (12 hrs a week) 2 kids childcare at $400 a week, my figures below, it seems a fair amount to just hand out?
Child Care Rebate $589
Child Benefit $553
Family Tax Benefit op 1 $468 (although it did quote us for op2 also which was about $120 more but not 100% if we qualify for the part B)
