Family Holiday & Accomodation on Sunshine Coast

Family Holiday & Accomodation on Sunshine Coast
We, a family of 4 with 2 young kids, are looking to spend approx 2 weeks on the Sunshine Coast in April 2006 with a view to having a holiday and getting a feel for Australia pending the granting of our visas.
Being unfamiliar with the size, scale and travelling distances and times between various places, we're unsure of which area to stay
Ideally we would like to stay somewhere where we can do the 'holiday thing' eg swimming (heated pool?), Australia Zoo etc etc, but we also would like to be located within reasonable travelling distance of Brisbane CBD as we may have interviews etc lined up for when we're out there
Particular areas of interest to us are:
Brisbane CBD
Mooloolaba
Noosa
Ormiston
Cleveland
Buderim
Can anybody recommend a suitable place to stay, including accomodation, which would allow us to take a family holiday as well as allowing us to easily visit the above mentioned places?
Any advice appreciated
Cheers

Hi,
We stayed in Caloundra at the Gemini resort, it was fab & it wasn't too far from the places that have mentioned & Australia zoo is about 10 mins away ( fab day out ) Are you going to book on line ? we went through my friend who is a travel agent in QL, we went with Sunlovers holidays

we (me, hubby and girls 12 and 14) have just come back from 3 weeks in Brisbane (wellington point - stayed with friends) and 4 nights in castaway cove (www.castaway cove.com.au), Noosa.
i would recommend castaway cove, the place was stunning and the house was wonderful. however, it maybe abit far from Brisbane for u

Cleveland and Ormiston are about 40-60 minutes southeast of Brisbane CBD, depending on traffic, and the other places you mentioned are about 2 hours the other direction, i.e. north of Brisbane. You'll find it difficult to have easy commute to all the places, unless you're actually staying near the city and use that as your base. Here's a good site to check out short term accomodation for SE Queensland:

Re: Family Holiday & Accomodation on Sunshine Coast
When we came first time to look around the place and have a holiday we stayed in Wellington Point with family. It made for a good base and meant we were convenient for sunshine & gold coast as well as the city. Loved the area so much we ended up in the next suburb of Ormiston. Not really sure of good places to stay in this area though as mainly residential.
If your main purpose is holiday, with the odd possibility of travelling to the city stay up in the sunshine coast - you will be amazed at the sheer beauty of the place, we still are now. Caloundra as mentioned would be a good base as closer to Brissie but still good for trips to Australia Zoo, Mooloolaba (Underwater world worth a visit) and Noosa.
Hope this helps

Noosa was also nice although we didnt stay there, Australia Zoo was good, not normally my sort of thing, but glad we went, saw Steve and his little girl racing around on motorbikes whilst we were walking around.
There was also a nice village high up inland with a (mock English I think) pub which looked out for miles across the hills to the ocean, cant remember the name but there's a penny farthing out the front, (someone more local might be able to tell you about it)
