FA Cup in Oz

Okay, how does it work. What channel is it on, what time is it on in your zone. Do you have a party for it? Do you stay up late?

Sooo many questions. Is it a big deal in Oz? Is it on the news?

Oh of course who do you WANT to win? (we all know arsenal are GOING to win :D )

Dirk. The simpe answer in Oz is... who cares?
I was a major football fan when I lived in Scotland.
I was a Rangers season ticket holder for 10 years.

I now, look to see how Rangers are getting on, on the net, & I'm looking forward to a very interesting last week of the Scottish League!

I'd love to see Rangers winning the flag, & to the end of my days, I'll always be a Rangers fan.

But....!!!!

I've found a better game!

Australian Rules Football is, without doubt, the most exciting sport I've ever seen.
To someone who doesn't know the rules, it might seem as if there are no rules!

In fact, the game of Aussie Rules has more laws than 90% of all games played on the planet.

I have so many things I want to say, but I've hed too many beers

All I can remember is going to friends on NSW Central Coast for the traditional BBQ, beers and trying to keep my eyes open until mid-night to watch it

Over in the UK, off to BBQ at Dad's (regardless of hail, wind or rain) with a group of about 20 of us. Starting the wine at 12 noon  , hope to be snoozing by kick off

M :D

yup - got the beers lined up. 10:30 coverage starts on SBS although will probably kick off a couple of hours later.

SBS has got Martin Tyler commentating for them - can't believe it. Thought he was crap on 'The Premiership' and now got to put up with him over here!!

Loads of football on in Oz. Kind of agree though with the rangers fan - AFL is like nothing I've ever seen before!

A few JDs and SBS ... Arsenal 2-1.

For the more socially-inclined there are bars in the city that will show it. Is it on the news? Yup. As my colleagues said, "You're a soccer fan? Isn't that all the hooligan stuff?"

And watching some moronic Croatians rioting in Sydney over some tribal religious bollocks then sometimes you can't disagree ...

it's just as bad, if not worse here in Melbourne. South Melbourne are the only team without a "nickname" now as they had their name changed from South Melbourne Hellas to try and curb the problems associated with the club's historical greek ties. After a riot at the ground between the greek south melbourne and the croation preston lions a few weeks ago, south melbourne now have to play their home games behind closed doors i.e. without any spectators at the ground..

Pathetic really isn't it? And all in the name of what? Anyone that wants to do that sort of thing should be booted onto a boat and sent far away ... like the UK ... :D

You don't get rioting at the darts ... no playing behind closed doors there ... well, lock-ins maybe ...

Just read this thread again.

Sorry for my previous early morning drunken ramblings...:o

In my defence, I went to see the new Star Wars film yesterday & was so impressed that when I got home I immediately got tore into a slab of Coopers Sparkling Ale!

And forgot to stop......!

Good luck to both teams in tonight's final.
Not really bothered who wins. Newcastle was always my English team.

Cheers..... John.....

Oh noooo  So sound 'mute' on the TV :D

Right then, I've a question. Is it possible to get commentary either on a real radio in Oz, any station carrying it?(thats A real radio, not Real (tm) Radio). Or failing that, a streaming commentary on the internet?

If anyone finds a way I can listen to Alan Green commentating on the FA Cup final, wins a HUGE prize :D

Cheers,
JTL
