Extra shipping costs ? Need Help
 

We have got 5 quotes for shipping roughly 550 cubic feet and our quotes are for a shared container

Crown £2991
Anglo Pacific £3078
John Mason £2340
Pss £2602
Excess Baggage £2559

Its so hard trying to decide who to use have heard moslty good coments about all the companys but they also all have some bad comments.

Very tempted to use John Masons because of price, but does anybody know roughly what xtra costs we would be charged think its customs clearance and quarantine charges. Crowns price includes everything, my head is in bits now trying to figure out which will be the best price and best service any info gratley received, hopefully by monday we will have decided. I know many helpfull people on this site will have some experience of this matter.

John Masons - £2679
PSS- £2365

So they are the reverse of yours???

I am based in South Scotland and the prices did not include insurance, customs or quarintine charges!!!

Also, do you have the web address for crown- I couldn't find it. :)

My stuff arrived in Sydney via John Masons on the 18th Jan and its held up with the backlog. My bill for extras so far is $272. If it's held back though by AQIS i will of course get another bill.....*fingers crossed*

Re the Quarantine charges - they cannot be paid in advance, because AQIS themselves decide what to open, what to examine, and what to treat, and they can only do that once the shipment arrives.

If you value your possessions then DONT use John Masons is my advise. We used them after falling for the sales pitch and we were devisdevastated our furniture arrived and 50 % was damaged. Luckily we had refused Masons insurance and used Letton and Percival and they bent over backwards to assist us. After complaining to Masons Quality Control Manager we were given a snooty reply basically saying TOUGH.

From reading what other people say I think we are going to have to rely on luck with who we choose. I had read quite a lot of good reviews about John Mason's but then look at the time Tony Mc has just had!!!

I seem to have read good/bad reviews about every company so I haven't got a clue who to go with now :)

We ship about the same cbft in Sept with Pickford's the extra charges we inccurred were

AQIS $323.50 (£160.00)

if storing in Aus aswell

One off handling fee for loading and load the stuff $187.00 (£83.00)

Storage per 28 days $104.00 (£46.30)

The above price on the Aus side inc. 10% GST (tax)

dont know about extra charges-but brothering law, used robinsons and they priced £1600 for half container
