Extortionate Xrays Prices

As i am travelling on a 4 year sponsored visa i only need to have a chest xray done, nae problems or so i thought, my b/friend got his xrays and got them sent to Sydney for just less that £50, whereas my xray alone is costing me £65 and the courier (which i have to organise myself) is gonna cost me £45 with a guarenteed 3 day delivery. Can't believe an xray can be so expensive, they seem to vary so much across the country. Is £65 the most expensive or can anyone make me feel better and tell me they paid more ?!

PS B/friend got his visa through today !!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

We had ours done a couple of weeks back here on the Isle of Man and they set us back £42 each.

Our medicals seem rather expensive tho' with the adults costing £80 each and the kids £40 each.

Money for ol' rope.

I paid £45 for the X-ray and £95 for the medical, both in Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey.

I am a bit confused now, the hospital have said that for £5.95 they will send it ordinary post for me, do they mean Royal Mail Airsure and will this give me a tracking number ? Can't decide whether to go normal post or pay the extra money to get it couriered by DHL. Any advice ?
Really need the visa to be approved asap as we are due to move out to Melbourne and start work as soon after the 16th Oct as is humanly possible.

I have my xrays with Bupa and I was expecting a large bill with them being private but it was only £50, the medical was £50 with no charge for the courier.

Firstly congratulations to your boyfriend getting his Visa.

Our Meds and X Rays were £145 per adult, sorry the clinic didn't break it down for us.

We are sending the meds off by International Post, I have been told by my agent that to courier them could cost £95.00. They have used the International Del service many times and have never had a problem.

Not sure which way I will go yet, just waiting on Acknowledgement.

We sent our TRA application Airsure - I thought I could track it online but all it says is "passed to our international parcels delivery" (or words to that effect) - you dont actually get to see when it's been delivered!

Personally from now on I will use DHL (or similar)

**The royal mail website states that you cannot send anything Airsure to Australia. Its either standard Airmail or International Signed for - the latter option gives you the tracking number.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, i think i'll go with DHL - more costly but sounds like it is the most efficient way of tracking it and getting it there asap.

Yes, come to think of it I think we used the international one - it had a tracking number anyway but what's the point if you can't see whether it got there?

I know DHL will cost more but it is peace of mind that your documents have arrived...

Don't risk Roayl Mail with something so important. We sent all our cards and photos 20.07.04 by registered international delivery and they still haven't turned up. The UK side say they definitely arrived in Sydney but having seen all the bad press recently, I doubt they ever even left this country. Pay the extra so that you know they will be delivered safely.

Have you had your medicals done ? Are you post -july ? We had our X-rays & madicals done in Glasgow too . We got our X-RAYS in hand along with form and took them to Dr for the medicals. Unless things have changed post July and it might have I don't know (being Pre-July applicant) ,then Dr doing medicals has to check X-rays and /or X-ray report. So , double check. We took everything away ourselves and sent it with DHL.
Good luck ,Tass.

Re: Extortionate Xrays Prices

Sorry ! Just read thread again and saw you don't have to have a medical !
We paid £65 each for x-rays ( could've got it done for nothing at work ! ) and , ready for this , £145 each for medicals ! £50 each for kids ! This consisted of dipstick of urine and a shake of the arms for 1 child (age 6) and a wiggle of the legs for the other , (age 3 )!
Matching horrificaly bruised arms for my husband and I were thrown in free!( I presume ) :D
