Expensive Perth

Anyone else finding Perth very expensive, I am tired of paying $10 for a beer in the city, or $9 outside at my local.
Yesterday I paid $9 for an ice cream at Hillarys. Madness, madness I tell ya

It all seems bloody expensive, I could be buying drinks in London or New York for less or similar prices and Perth isnt in the same kind of league to be able to demand those prices.

Opinions, rants.....

I agree things are over priced but as long as people are willing to pay these prices they will always charge them,

Cant disagree with the OP...

However I've saved several thousand pounds this week not flying out of a snowy heathrow to seek a bit of sun.... I think I'll go and buy myself an overpriced ice-cream to celebrate :D

I don't go out to drink, so can't comment on the price of beer. However, I just got back from the driving range where a morning's entertainment cost me all of $16.

What time of ice cream was it? A super sundae? We had single scope ice creams at Hillarys for 4$ not that long ago. Perth is expensive but people earn good salaries here.
There are also a lot of bargains to be had if yo know we're to look.

Yep. Been living 2 years after moving from NSW and the price of drinks in pubs is a joke as is the price of meals in pubs and restaurants. And the portion sizes in some of these eateries is laughable.

No wonder there are always queues in places like Macdonalds, KFC and Hungry Jacks.

Maybe those on six figure salaries don't mind paying the silly prices but not all of us are on high wages.

I dread it when my husband tells me we are meeting friends for dinner at some over-priced restaurant in Perth or Fremantle. I could buy a fortnight's groceries with what we pay for me, hubby and our son, aged 10, for a meal without drinks.

Yep it's pretty shocking to shop here (in the Western suburbs at any rate) if you don't have the time to traipse to outer lying spots to grab the bargains...

Perhaps with the imminent arrival of Aldi all this will change

Hillarys is a shithole (and then some). The only reason to go there is Hippo Creek. For everything else - avoid

My PPP for a pint at $10/GBPeso3
AU - 5min 40 sec
UK - 5min 10sec

So UK is a bit more affordable for me on this one

There's a great ice cream place in Kalamunda that sells awesome ice cream at $3.50 for 2 scoops
