Fruit and Veg markets are a lot cheaper than the 'big two'. There are always bargains to be had in the supermarkets anyway.

Yes if they seemed expensive then they are. Serious point to note (and to take into account to make sure you get the whole story):

Forget the FX rate. How many of those Aussie dollars are you likely to earn?

Now do the maths. (It still won't be cheap compared to some of the prices you may have found in the UK.)

no Aldi in WA. Suck it up, it's expensive. One has to build a bridge and get over it because it isn't changing!!!

Errrrrr helllloooo, I've been saying this for the last 6 months and some. It's a royal rip off here in Perth. Expensive housing, groceries, etc.

You need to be pulling in $70K a year at least for a family if you have no mortgage or rent just to get by. $100K and you'll still struggle with a $250K mortgage. Fact - unless you live like a student, don't go out, eat noodles and beans and like the park/beach and packed lunches as a day out week in week out. Defo need a high paying job to have any kind of 'lifestyle'.

Wake up people, hopefully you'll get what it's like in Perth and just don't think it's the negative locals spouting lies.

Australia is NOT cheap. I don't think anyone is seriously claiming it is, however it might be the dream, and will remain exactly that, of those seeking to migrate.

Don't even get me started on books !

Aye, it is a dream that has been carefully marketed by people with vested interests.

How many of those 'Relocation Down Under' type TV programs are financed by Australian migration boards or Aus Govt? I'll guess we'll never know.

Work up a lather, rinse and repeat; "result misery".

Increase income / decrease expenditure; "result happiness".

Elementary.

Even cheaper at Halfords, where it is sold as "plain label" anti-freeze.

Woolworths and Coles are expensive. You do need to find the alternatives.

Not sure about Perth, I hear it is more expensive there...

My area:
Milk $1.20 for 2 litres
Bread $1.10 for white loaf
Bread $1.40 for Multigrain loaf
There are cheaper breads about but not as good.
Bananas 49 cents Kg
Banana Sandwiches :D Cheap
