I too yearn for something different, a big adventure. I think its all down to people's personal circumstances. I, for example, have absolutely no family here except my Mum - who is less than distant from me and my daughter; friends? We live in a small minded, dark, damp, North of England village with no future - its like time has stood still. Im a single parent, trained and experienced in a notoriously hard laboured, low paid job career (nursing) which incidently, is notoriously the same in OZ. Therefore my theory is: crap weather = better weather in Oz, Country life = City life in Oz, Poorly paid job in UK = Poorly paid job in Oz, Struggling as single parent in UK - might as well do the same in Oz and at the same time, open the eyes of my daughter and at least give her the choice of a future.

My plan is to keep a property in UK and rent it out. UK Â£'s make more A$'s which will eventually will fund a mortgage for us in Oz. I plan to go forever, rose tinted or not. Ive had it here in the UK, but I know that the demons inside, will travel alongside me. Its up to me to eliminate them once in Oz...............

Wouldn't bother, though not much there to dissuade you anyway. The best reasons for coming back they could come up with there were real ale, fishing and dry-roasted peanuts!

Very true, my OH has noticed he works twice as hard as the Ozzies do in his current job BUT that's his way and he can't slow down!!!!

And the worst part is that only the real ale thing is actually true since the fishings better here and the dry roasted peanuts are the same :lol:

i think your idea is great for you,for me i have to be 1000% sure that its the right thing for me,i dont want to keep dragging my kids all round the world.

i would say "expect nothing from oz and then everything you like about it comes as a bonus"...

The only gripe is the relative cost of groceries. But I'd rather pay for this than pay more on my mortgage. The groceries are interest free, the housing cost isn't. There a bean counter adding money on that one around the clock.
