Executing Father's UK will from Australia
Hello all. I'm trying to find out how to execute my father's will which is in the UK, from Western Australia. I am one of two executors but am estranged from the other executor and this is causing many distressing issues. Can anyone recommend the correct course of action or a solicitor that I can contact that is experienced in such matters. I've contacted UK solicitors but they say they can't assist me as I'm in Australia and I'm having real problems finding an Australian Solicitor who can advise me. Please feel free to send me a private message. Thanks so much.

I think you can appoint someone to act on your behalf in the UK.

Re: Executing Father's UK will from Australia
I gave up with mine! The other executor for my dad's will was a solicitor and though I began the process what with mail delays and covid it was a bloody nightmare so I asked him if his firm would do it and he said yes. Because I wasnt in UK, I nominated my son who lives in UK to be the signer of things. So far so good. I cant remember what the transfer of executor process was exactly other than me signing a request and nominating my son to act on my behalf. Sorry I dont have the answers - I would have thought a UK solicitor would act for you even though you live here - what rationale did they give for that? As long as you pay them they will usually walk over hot coals for you. Maybe if a UK friend has a solicitor they could recommend you may get a better response.
