Excuse my ignorance but...............
I got a dumb question.
I understand skilled migrant applications are decided on a points system.
Are all other classifications (eg. spouse and prospective spouse) based on that as well?

Not even all skilled migrant applications are decided on a points basis, if you take
into account the regional schemes.
There is also a points test for business skills applicants, but it is different to
the general skilled points test.
Other categories (family stream, employer nomination etc) are not subject to a
points test.
