By what measure? GDP was growing at about 2.5%...pretty sure that's considered below potential / long term trend.

sure but doing better than most other western/OECD nations

AUD at 0.80 will suit some industries more than at 1.05 - mining, LNG, agri, EPCMs, manufacturing. Other industries - retail, importers will hate it

Consumers will gain in some areas, lose in others

0.80 and probably is more or even less is right for Australia. All the exporters you mention will love it and for most Australians who have no buying concept of the outside world it will be a good thing. For me it sucks. I want high value currency. So I'm off.

Aussie bogan publications have only just picked up on this 'how dare we have economic migrants' but if the $A and economy continue to slump this will be news.

What a ridiculous non-news article

Some people leave
Some people arrive
Some people arrive and then move on
Some people arrive and then move on and then return
etc

A lot go to NZ - easy to get into for a (allegedly) western country. Many then move onto Australia or elsewhere

Saffas (and Pacific Islanders) using NZ as an easy stepping stone ot Australia was one of the main reasons why our government removed the PR option for Kiwi citizens

That's interesting. But as you said earlier, multiple emigrations in a lifetime are the way these days. I wouldn't rule out one last hop before I'm done.

Probably no chance of our latest honorary Australian, Boris's dream of easier immigration between the UK and Australia happening though
