Excess on top of building a house

Hi all :) ,

For those of you who have built using project home builders, I was wondering how much you paid on top of the list price (to get it upto the standard of the showhomes)

For example...if a home is listed with Clarendon for $250K, would an extra $50K be reasonable for the landscaping, flooring, aircon, rendering etc?

Many Thanks for replying to this obscure question.

The company that we built with have two prices, the standard price and the as displayed price. The difference was between say $30,000 to $50,000. We chose the as displayed price, and on top of this we have spent probably about 10-15 grand to get it to the spec that we wanted, i.e. good quality fixtures and fittings, solar block windows, our own cooker/extractor hood, granite worktops. etc.

Hi Sassie,

Thanks for the reply. May I enquire as to the original quoted prices...as a $30-$50K increase on $1,000,000 home is not much, but on a $200K home its a lot.

ps..who did u build with?

Thanks

Hi. We built with Richards Home on the Gold Coast and apart from a couple of issues with them, we found them to be very very good and we are very pleased with the end result.

Ok, have just dug out some of the paper work. This is for a 3 bedroom, study, master/ensuite, lounge, open plan living area/kitchen, activities/rumpus room and pavillion. total floor area 30.5 squares. Base price was $163,940 and as displayed was $201,416. By the time we upgraded the kitchen, our contract price was $208,364, excluding all fixtures fittings, appliances which were obviously on top of that.

Hi Sassie,

Even without having seen your house...I reckon you got yourself a good deal. To have a whole house built at close to $200K is pretty good going.:D
