Re: Everything you need to know or what to do and how to do it - The Validation Trip
hi
have you tried booking flights and hotel through expedia.co.uk? We are planning a trip out next november, and did a search for this november as a rough estimate of what it was going to cost. We got flights from manchester to sydney, 12 nights hotel accom in sydney, and 12 nights accom in adelaide for us 2 adults and 3 kids for £4300(+/-100). An internal flight return to adelaide is around $500 (£250-300?). So all together around £4800 for a 3 and a half week trip incl taxes. worth a look see... good luck, let us know what you decide to do sue :D :D :D |

we did Sydney and Brisbane trip last year. Stayed at an apartment in Sydney which saved money on eating out while giving a taster of food shopping. try this site
We hired a car (bit more spacous as no kids) so we could visit various areas of Sydney and prearranged to meet up with a family who live in Sydney from this site. We then treated the Sydney to Brisbane part as a holiday driving up over 6 days. In Brisbane we met up and stayed with a couple I knew from school (who are now Oz citizens). As we were flying out of Sydney we got a internal flight which Qantas or Virgin Blue often have good prices on. here are some other sites you may find useful Sydney/NSW blue mountains jenolan caves hunter valley travelling |

If you go out of the Australian school holidy periods (vary from state to state) you will find apartments are quite cheap and easily available. They are often very big with several rooms.
I would think they would be far cheaper and a lot more comfortable than a campervan. We have never booked anywhere in advance and have never had a problem Good luck G forgot to add. They will all probably have laundry rooms as well |

Hiya Olibeneli,
I did the trip the otherway, from Bris to Syd and then back. I was on my own and had two weeks to do what ever I liked. It wasn't a short drive 900K's and the coast road is the best route. I went back via the New England Highway. (Just like the UK, grey, wet & depressing) can't recommend it, but then again it was a road that went in the right direction! (oh yeh, a map is a good idea ;) ) I hired a car from Hertz, unlimited milage and you can go where you like and even do a one way rental, alway's an option. (local rentals limit where you can go & don't wont galactic milage) It's nice to stop where you feel like, remember it's a holiday, stop where ever you like and enjoy. It's interesting to watch everyday life. Sit next to the beach & watch all the mother pushing the prams in the sea air having cofee! Accomodation wise don't leve it too late in the day, remember it goes dark early and it's a ball ache in the dark. Bye Mark |

If you are near the coast you will generally find the apartments will have ,at least, Two bedrooms, sitting room, kitchen, bathroom, laundry room and often a balcony. There will usually be a swimming pool (depending on time of year). Believe me they can be surprisingly cheap but much depends on State school holidays. In Queensland people from other states may also be there on holiday so try and time it right. Usually they will be from Victoria or SA as their winters can be long and cool.Best times are probably spring or autumn. Good luck G |
