Ok I've set me alarm. I'm gonna give this place a go. Popped in there whilst I was in the city today and got chatting with a couple of Brit lads....they reckon it's a good crack.

Great atmosphere though. Must have been about 300 of us. Can't type any more....I'm still in mourning.

Yep. I was there. That f***ing picture. It did come back on, but I didn't trust the thing after that.

John Motson managed to commentate for all of 1 minute of the game before mentioning England, 1966 etc etc. But I'll admit he toned it down tonight, he's usually the worst.
Ian Wrights final comment on the England defeat by Portugal went like this:
Its wrong that England are out, because England are good enough to go on and win the competition, whereas Portugal aren't.
And the English team (and supporters) wonder why they are considered arrogant?
Cheers,
JTL
Now we just have to live with 10 years of "that Sol Cambell goal should never have been disallowed". Hand of God, Maradona, we wuz robbed etc etc
Arrrrghhhh:scared:

Lots more vintage Motty in the match too - 'there are centre halves, there are giants and there is Sol Campbell'. The guy did play well to give him his due but ... And 'Ronaldo goes down the left wing and .... pause ..... I'm just going to interrupt myself with news that Wayne Rooney is off to hospital to have an X-Ray on his foot (interrupt myself!)
When the penalty shoot-out started I wondered to myself who was going to be the next player in the Pizza Hut ad (Miss, Miss etc). The thought crossed my mind Southgate of Villa last, Vassell? Honest!
I did feel sorry for the players and supporters though because even though they didn't deserve to win in normal time, nevertheless I thought it was a fair goal by Campbell.
Sadly, it looked like one tattoo and one image makeover too far for Becks.

As a neutral, I agree largely with the above.
If you could sub Beckham on and off to take corners/free-kicks that would be ideal. He doesn't have enough impact in the open open play of a game - unlike Zidane or Nedved- who are truly world class.
England stars of this tournement were Campbell, Cole, Neville, Rooney, Lampard and Gerrard (to some degree). The rest just weren't up to winning the tournement.
James always looked suspect to me - I reckon Nigel Martyn would have made a difference in that penalty shoot-out.
I fancy the Czechs to win the whole thing - a well organised team unit.

As a colleague said, England have some really good players but if you bring on Phil Neville and Owen Hargreaves as subs then they clearly don't have the depth. Having said that Cole and Dyer weren't brought on so it probably says more about the manager's tactics that he chose those 2 as subs.
I fancy France ........ or Portugal, Holland, Czech Republic. Wouldn't it be a better competition if they brought in Brazil and Argentina though!
